Advertising Campaigns

Lego City:

All adverts in order of release: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_f9BktzR7I
The first advert uses a story to make it more exciting to promote it, and uses the actual sets to off how good they are.
·       Release date of brand: 2005,but the Lego brand as a whole was founded in 1932
·       First Advert: 2005
·       Ad company: Lego in-house advertising
·       Cost of ad:N/A - The animated segments may have costed a lot because animation is typically expensive, though the set design isn't likely to have costed much for the company as it is made almost entirely from their own products.
·       Theme of advert: build new set to save people
·       Audio: Music to make it seem more exciting, ”HEY!” is a recognisable slogan for the ads. The voiceover sounds dramatic which makes the advert seem more exciting.
·     The target audience for this is primarily children aged 6-12 as Lego is a toy and the audio helps to catch attention and how it shows off features of the toys.

Aldi “Like Brands”:

·       First advert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCKgCkubGc0
The advert is to the point as it gets the information across quickly and obviously with the price tags. It’s also funny which makes it more memorable, and so the brand and prices may stick in someone’s mind. It was voted as the best TV ad campaign of the 2010's in the UK.
·       Release date of brand: 1946
·       First advert in campaign: 2011
·       Ad company: Aldi in-house advertising
·       Cost of ad:N/A - couldn't find a specific cost but it was said to be cheap, as it only used a regular canon camera and relied on natural lighting in someone's house.
·       Theme of advert: comparing brands to Aldi products
·       Audio: No music, dialogue only. Audio is there to inform and add humour. The lack of music either makes it boring or helps to emphasise the humour.
·       Change campaigns at Christmas for “Kevin the Carrot” ads (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iezzZ3Ufv7I)
·       Most recent adverts don’t use the “Like brands” campaign often (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkQ1mN4syUw&list=PLdKE9BbqQgzAWCHaujJGmf6xi70kPElti) but some do (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSts9JdeGXE)
· The target audience is probably about 20+. The advert might be too boring or dry for children to enjoy.
