Using Blending Options on text

Thoughts on each Blending Option

Stroke: Helps to make text stand out more so it's visually interesting. It's very simple but can look great when used on it's own or with other editing methods.

Drop Shadow: Gives more depth to an object or text and works well with just about anything to make it stand out.

Outer Glow: Similar to stroke but can fade out further from the text. I think it's a little less useful than it because the bolder look of a stroke can be used more often.

Bevel and Emboss: Gives depth to text or an image which can make it look better but if it is used on thin text like in the first image it can look too cluttered.

Satin: Can create a really interesting effect inside the text which can make it very useful.

Gradient Overlay: Very useful as a gradient can make text look much more appealing and interesting. It can be used for a shading effect or just for colouring, and I think it works very well with a stroke to make something bolder.

Inner Glow: Similar thoughts to the Outer Glow but I also think it works better in thicker text as the fading effect of it is much easier to see in it.

When combining blending options I think the best were the last two since they stand out so much and each option work well together to create a good looking effect.

I generally used thicker fonts because the effects are much more visible with a wider space. I think certain effects work best with certain fonts, for example I think more sophisticated fonts work very well with the Bevel and Emboss option. I chose some of these fonts since I like the simpler, more cartoonish feeling of some of them like the Showcard Gothic font. For a lot of the text I used bright colours but dark outlines because it helps the text or at least the bright colours to stand out a lot.
